Gornje Čelo is a small village located on the eastern side of island Koločep overlooking the city of Dubrovnik.
Tap to show more contentThe inhabitants of Gornji Čelo are mainly engaged in tourism and some fishing. According to the population census, the total number of inhabitants in this village is about 60. Park - forest in Gornji Čel, is a significant natural object consisting of a forest of Aleppo pine and maquis. In maquis, characteristic types of the climate stand out, such as holm oak (Quercus ilex), skunk (Pistacia terebinthus), honeysuckle (Pistacia lentiscus), sedge (Phillyrea latifolia), myrtle (Myrtus communis), plantain (Arbutus unedo), carob (Ceratonia siliqua) overgrown tendon (Smilax aspera) and other species. The landscape along the sea coast is especially aesthetically valuable, on whose steep rocks grow characteristic plants of this climate. This protected area covers an area of about 12 ha. It has been protected since 1961 by the decision of the Institute for Nature Protection
